42 mm: Designed for filters and systems using the larger 42 mm thread, including the Katadyn BeFree.
The 28 mm and 42 mm versions are not interchangeable at the bottle opening, so confirm your filter’s thread size before ordering.
Why We Like It
The VectoX makes one of the less glamorous parts of backpacking—collecting and treating water—noticeably easier. The wide opening is convenient at natural water sources, while the collapsible body saves space when the container is empty. Offering two thread sizes also makes it easy to build the VectoX into different filtration setups.
The Tradeoff
The VectoX isn’t the absolute lightest option for carrying two liters of water. You’re giving up a little weight in exchange for a more durable container, easier filling and cleaning, and direct compatibility with popular filtration systems. The additional weight is a reasonable tradeoff for hikers who expect to use the container regularly rather than simply carry it as an emergency backup.
Rikkar Take
A highly practical 2-liter water container for backpackers who want easy water collection and flexible filter compatibility. Choose the 28 mm or 42 mm version based on your filtration setup, and you get a durable, collapsible container that works equally well for collecting, storing, and treating backcountry water.
