Why We Like It
The polished bowl is the reason to choose this version over a basic matte titanium spoon. It feels smoother against your mouth and is easier to clean, while the matte handle still provides a secure grip. At only 19 grams, the difference is small enough that we think the added comfort is worthwhile.
The Tradeoff
The long handle is excellent for deep food bags and cook pots but makes the spoon less compact than a standard-length utensil. If you primarily eat from a shallow bowl or mug, you may not need the additional length.
Rikkar Take
One of our favorite combinations of function and low weight for a backpacking utensil. The long handle solves the messy-meal-bag problem, while the polished bowl makes the spoon noticeably nicer to actually eat with. At 19 grams, it’s a very easy piece of comfort to justify in an ultralight cook kit.
