Sizing / Configuration
16 oz — 1.77 oz / 50.3 g: The lightest option and a good choice for smaller meals or hikers who prioritize minimal weight. Uses an 89/400 lid.
20 oz Standard — 2.51 oz / 71.1 g: The versatile all-around option for typical trail meals. This configuration uses the 89/400 lid and has a narrower profile.
20 oz Wide — 2.43 oz / 68.9 g: The wider configuration uses a 100/400 lid, providing a larger opening that’s particularly convenient for mixing and eating directly from the jar.
26 oz — 2.66 oz / 75.3 g: The largest option uses a 100/400 lid, with plenty of room for larger meals, higher-calorie portions, or foods that need additional room for mixing.
What’s Included
One polypropylene jar with matching black screw-on F-217 lined lid.
Why We Like It
This is the kind of simple piece of gear that earns its place because it solves several problems at once. The wide, smooth interior makes it much easier to eat every last bit of a meal and clean the jar afterward, while the lined lid provides the secure seal we want when carrying food or liquid inside a backpack.
The Tradeoff
You can save a few grams by repurposing certain disposable food containers, but they often sacrifice durability, sealing, or ease of cleanup. These jars add a little weight in exchange for a purpose-built container that can be reused, seals securely, and can handle boiling water when you want a hot meal instead of a cold soak.
Rikkar Take
A straightforward upgrade for anyone building a cold-soak or stoveless meal system. The 16 oz is the ultralight choice for smaller meals, the 20 oz Standard is the narrow all-around option, the 20 oz Wide gives you a larger opening for easier eating and mixing, and the 26 oz is the choice for larger meals or bigger portions.
