Why We Like It
The NU20 Classic keeps the headlamp simple while still giving hikers the lighting options that are actually useful on the trail. The combination of low weight, a very low 1-lumen setting, red light, and USB-C charging makes it easy to carry as an everyday backpacking headlamp rather than something reserved for occasional nighttime emergencies.
The Tradeoff
The built-in battery keeps the package compact and light, but it also means you can’t swap in a fresh battery when you’re away from a charging source. The 360-lumen maximum is plenty for normal trail use, but hikers who regularly need very high output for extended periods may want a larger headlamp with a higher-capacity battery.
