Why We Like It

The Bottle Rocket solves a common problem with lightweight backpacks: water is heavy, and you don’t necessarily want to stop and take off your pack every time you need a drink. Moving a bottle onto the shoulder strap makes hydration easier to manage while keeping the main pack compartment available for gear.

The Tradeoff

A shoulder-strap bottle carrier works best with bottles that fit its shape and retention system, so it isn’t as universally useful as a standard side pocket. It also puts a bottle in a more exposed position, which can be less convenient when scrambling through tight vegetation or moving through rough terrain.
