Why We Like It
The NB Air gets the basics right for a lightweight power bank without adding much bulk. Five thousand milliamp-hours is enough to provide useful backup power for a phone, headlamp, GPS, or other small electronics on shorter trips, while the 3.14-ounce weight makes it easy to justify carrying.
The Tradeoff
The obvious tradeoff is capacity. At 5,000mAh, the NB Air isn’t intended to keep several devices running for days or support a high-demand electronics setup. It also has only a single USB-C port, so you’ll want to make sure your charging cables and devices fit that setup. Need more capacity? If you’re heading out for several days or carrying multiple devices, the NITECORE NB10000 Gen4 offers twice the capacity in a larger battery.
Rikkar Take
A strong choice when you need backup power but don’t want to carry a 10,000mAh battery by default. For day hikes, overnighters, fastpacking, and other trips where you mainly need to top off a phone or small electronics, the NB Air’s low weight and compact size make more sense than carrying a larger power bank.
