Why We Like It
The Trailmate takes a material originally made for serious climbing applications and gives it a second life as a dog leash. The rope construction is durable without feeling overly bulky, and the 6-foot length works well for both everyday walks and getting out on the trail with your dog.
The Tradeoff
The rope construction isn’t going to pack as small as an ultrathin webbing leash, and the metal hardware adds some weight compared with a minimalist leash. In return, you get a substantially more substantial leash that is comfortable to handle and built for regular outdoor use.
